Another plant that’s a bee magnet. This giant hyssop has fluffy, lilac blue flower spikes on straight stems that grow to about 90cm high. Tall, upright growth with a spread of about 60cm. Its leaves are also mint-scented. 

Hardy to -10 degrees and more if planted in free draining soil in full sun. It’s a good choice for baking hot summers, which we are going to get more of. The foliage dies back in autumn. Cut back the old top growth before the new arrives in spring.

Flowers from June – September and the bees head to it after the lavender has finished.
