September Plant of the Month
A reliable Aster pyrenaeus hybrid with large, single purple-pink flowers from August to October – although flowering later here this year, as with so many plants. A magnet for bees and hoverflies on sunny autumn days. It has an upright habit, 65cm high. Mildew free and prefers good winter drainage. Worthwhile and easy.

My plant came from the excellent Old Court Nurseries near Malvern when I visited a few years ago. If you’re in the area, now is the best time to visit them and see Michaelmas daisies in all their glorious autumn colours.
