Commonly known as Masterwort, Astrantia are beautiful, photogenic plants.
Their flowers are worth close inspection as their construction is so delicate. Astrantia ‘Florence’ is muted pink in colour with hints of lilac and is a really pretty, cottage garden type plant. I’ve had it in my garden for a few years. It is reliable and also good for cutting. With more space, I would plant groups of them as they need such little attention and then I could pick more of them for the house. I tidy away the dead foliage at some point over the winter (they’re very hardy) and tickle some organic fertiliser into the soil in the spring. That’s all they need to help them flower from June to August. Height 50-60cm and happiest in dappled shade.
