Native to Kashmir but a rowan tree that also thrives in the UK.

A beautiful sight in autumn with large, eye-catching white berries hanging in clusters from spreading branches. In spring, the pretty pale pink flowers have five petals arranged in a star shape. The leaves are made up of lots of little oblong leaflets making the foliage feel light and lacy. In autumn, the foliage colours up quite well, although not as strikingly as other trees in this family. The Kashmir rowan is very slow-growing and low-branched with an open habit, reaching only 3-5 metres high – an ideal tree where space is limited.

White and yellow berried trees carry their fruits longer into winter than red and orange types which are favoured by hungry birds. If you’d prefer a yellow variety, then Sorbus ‘Joseph Rock’ would be a good choice. Another wonderful rowan tree perfect for the smaller garden.
