August Plant of the Month
Charming is the word to describe this little perennial. Clouds of tiny, pale blue flowers in late summer on aromatic plants. The leaves have a minty perfume and the flowers are a magnet for bees, hoverflies and the tiny day flying Mint moth.
Requires full sun, light well-drained soil, but is perfectly hardy given those conditions. A front of border plant, or one for the gravel garden or rockery, as these bushy plants are quite short, to about 40cm high and wide. I cut mine back hard in the spring and no further maintenance is required as they just do their stuff. Which is so pretty!
