May Plant of the Month

This pretty, early flowering hardy geranium is a hybrid between a Greek species (G. peloponnesiacum) and G. renardii. Discovered as a chance seedling at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, it is a strong growing plant with upturned, pale lilac-blue flowers marked with distinctive dark lilac veins. Not only are the flowers pretty but the sage-like, grey/green foliage is also very attractive.

Evergreen in mild winters, it prefers full sun and flowers from May -June. By cutting back spent flowers, it may also surprise you by blooming again in late summer.

Seemingly disease and pest resistant. Height and spread 45 x 45cm.
